I just finished the book, and I waS not disappointed! I loved every word that Paolini wrote, and it kept me engaged all the way. The vast length of this novel may seem intimidating, but the content is so interesting, that you hardly realize that you are turning the pages! Paolini did a great job of connecting all of the unsolved mysteries and questions from Eragon and Eldest. Originially, Paolini intended for the Inheritance series to be a trilogy, but in order to keep the expansive details coming, and the flow of the literature smooth, he had to carry out the trilogy into a cycle. He plans to conclude here, in the 4th book.(All information that I have included can be found in the Epilogue.) I did some minor research and found that the 4th installment is planned to come out in 2010-2011 and Eldest the movie is coming out in 2011, as of now. Right, maybe at a later date, I will go into detail on my favorite highlighted parts of the third installment of the Inheritance cycle, Brisingr. Keep checking for posts by my account. Se onr sverdar sitja hvass!
Sorry Chase you are obviously a big fan but I fear Paolini is trying to hard to write a timeless tale like Lord of the Rings. Eragon was a fast and exciting read and I truly enjoyed it, however in Eldest and again in Brisingr it seems he is spending to much time focusing on description and pointless political aspects. He is creating a whole Tolkien-esk world and forgetting that this is supposed to be a book for children to enjoy. If he wanted to write a adult series he should have waited. Even Tolkien did seperate tales of Middle Earth for children, and adults.
That being said the book did answer many questions. I really enjoyed seeing Roran's character develop throughout the tale. He is one tough dude. And I will be reading the next book whenever it is completed.
